This is a Vintage Mercury Atlas “Big Joe Rocket Painting.
This is an antique painting on illustration board by artist “Don Reid”.
It measures approx 20”x29” and dates to around 1959-1965.
Painting has some surface damage in a couple spots but does not detract from overall appeal.
The subject is the launch of a Mercury Atlas Rocket. It appears to be “big Joe” launched in 1959.
There is little info I could find about the artist or it’s original recipient but you can see one of Don Reid’s Automotive concept works in last photo, shown for reference as well as obituary of the original recipient.
